On the Run

Meet baby K.

Little drooly, wiggly, squirmy human baby. Loves to investigate. Can be loud and screechy at times.

He wasn't so mobile 8 months ago... when Mom and Dad came home with him one day.
He wasn't too much in my way back then. At about five months ago, things started changing. Mommy tried to help me get to know him, by allowing him to look at me, and sometimes, touch the tips of my hair. I didn't mind it, as long as our encounters were kept brief. I did notice that he seemed to be fascinated by me and my other hairy sister.

When he turned six months, Mommy came home with a great big package. I helped her sniff it and open it up. It was a bright-colored baby seater with wheels, that Mommy called a walker. Then Daddy put the baby in it.
You should have seen the light that sparked in baby K's eyes. It was like a light bulb had turned on inside. Suddenly it clicked that he could move his little legs and walk around. Well, it was walk for only about a week.

By the end of the month, he was on the tips of his toes, zooming past everything.
And his favorite thing to do? Why, chase me of course!! By the end of the month, I was running everywhere!
First this baby invaded my spot on the couch with Mommy.
And now with this walker, he has invaded my floor space!
Aaaah! Look at him spot me!

Now I'm constantly on the move. I can't really lounge around peacefully like I used  to be able to.
Really, the safest place is in the safety of my own cubby under Mommy's bed, on the breakfast nook, or underneath the dining table. He can't go past the legs... HA!
Look at him about to smack me!!

Just kidding...

Mommy said we'll be best pals soon...
I doubt that... maybe, yeah, we'll see.
I hope.

For now, I gotta run!

My Favorite Spot

This is my favorite spot.
See, we live in a city. There's not much to see for a dog in the city. We have a yard outside, but a lot of it isn't the grassy stuff I like to run in. So I prefer to stay in the house, close to Mommy. When she was pregnant with my little human brother, she had to quit work early, because of something called a high-risk-pregnancy. I just knew that she had to really watch her eating and energy level. Well, that's fine by me. We would spend lots of quality time together. One of my favorite time with Mommy is spent here on the window seat.

We had a special time everyday.
We had squirrels running wild in the back yard. After breakfast, Mommy would cut up some food for those sneaky bottle brush-tailed rascals, put it outside of the window seat, and then we'd sit and watch.

These squirrels are different from the ones I knew back in the 'States. These won't eat nuts, and they live in a coconut tree! Yes, we live in the tropics... and these squirrels just had to go about with their tropical way of living-coconut huts, HA! They love eating tropical fruits like bananas, papayas, guavas, and oranges. I think they have a sweet tooth.

Mommy and I would patiently wait 'till one of 'em rascals show up. And I would always sense them first. I'm a great squirrel-spotter! Mommy always tells me to be quiet and watch, but sometimes I just can't hold it anymore, my muscles twitch, and I just bark at them. I was telling them that I could jump off and snatch one of them! But of course they just snicker at me, 'cause they know I can't climb their tree. So there I rest, and watch the rascally squirrels, and dream of catching one of them one day.

My First Post Ever!

Hi! I'm Sparky! I come running to the world fearing nothing.

It was not always that way. At least not in the very very beginning.
As a tiny puppy, I was abused by my previous owners. So after they sent me to the dog pound, I was really curious about the world, but I was still scared. I got really nervous and made small puppy accidents when people come near me.

But Mommy and Daddy came one day, and felt really touched by my curiosity amidst all of my nervousness. I was so excited seeing them walk through that door at the pound! I sniffed them to death, and I wagged my tail as hard as I could. I can't believe that they decided to keep me in spite of the many little bugs on my coat. But yeah, they brought me to their home and loved me. They patiently guided me to forget my fears. And ever since then, the rest is history!

I now come running with excitement at anything! I love watching cats and squirrels in the yard on the window seat with Mommy. And if she'd let me, I would jump off that window and chase off the little rascals! Life with my human family is never boring, especially since they brought the little baby home.

Here I'm going to tell the story of my human family. They're the ones I love the most. Living with them is certainly an adventure.
